Our public Early Learning & Children’s Courses offer a wonderful opportunity for children of all genders, from kindergarten to primary school age, to embark on their first journey into the world of classical dance. These term-based programs introduce children to the joy and beauty of dance and music, fostering a lifelong love of movement.

Taught by highly trained instructors in the stunning studios of , each class is accompanied by live piano music, enhancing the experience and creating an inspiring atmosphere.

There are no auditions required to join this public program. Focused on nurturing creativity and enjoyment, the courses do not follow formal ballet grading, exams, or performances, making them a fun and supportive introduction to dance.

Please note, as outlined in the School's Terms and Conditions, “The School does not provide individual feedback outside of sessions/classes.”


Early Learning Course enrolments are based on the child’s current age (3yrs+).

Children’s course enrolments are based on a child's current (2025) primary school year level.

Any incorrect enrolments may be transferred if a place is still available in the correct class. Incorrect enrolments may be refused and incur the 15% cancellation fee if a refund is approved.

Kinder participants must be toilet trained and must be at least 3 years old at the start of the term.

Please note that bookings will be for the term booked. As this is a public program, prior enrolment will not guarantee a place in future courses.

ABS staff members meet all participants in the Ground floor foyer and escort the children into the School's studios. Parents/Carers are not permitted into the studio area.



There is no specific uniform, however the students should be dressed in appropriate dancewear.

Girls: leotard, ballet tights or white ankle socks, ballet shoes.

Boys: plain bike shorts, form-fitting plain t-shirt/singlet, white ankle socks and ballet shoes.



Children are required to wear ballet shoes which can be purchased at any specialised dancewear store.

Our preferred supplier is Bloch. The closest store to the school is located at 35 City Rd Southbank.



We do not offer any trial classes. It can take several weeks for a child to settle into a new environment and so we encourage children to attend for the full term course.



Bookings for classes are non-refundable unless they are cancelled by .

As our Early Learning and Children's courses consist of a set number of classes per term, no make-up classes are available.



As a per term course, our Early Learning & Children's Courses do not offer any annual/end of year performance experience.

On the final Saturday of Terms 2&4, a small presentation for parents is offered to share a small insight into the studio.

Open Masterclasses provide dance students from all backgrounds with the exclusive opportunity to work with some of Australia’s leading dance teachers and experience the high level of expertise on offer at Australia’s national centre for excellence in dance training.

Open Masterclasses run for approximately 1.5 hours. All students are welcome to enrol, regardless of previous dance experience. As limited places are available at each venue, early application is advised.


Eligibility

Participants must be between 9 - 17 years old on the day of their selected masterclass venue.

Multiple classes may operate simultaneously, and class groups are determined in accordance with age & gender. Class allocations cannot be altered unless exceptional circumstances prevail.

Specialised Coaching Classes (SCC) are classes are designed to extend each student's current home training, as well as forming part of ITP & Invitee participation and assessment.             Combining Pilates floor exercises with our Strength and Conditioning philosophy, these classes will show students cutting-edge fitness work tailored to the requirements of classical ballet students.

            For 2025, Sydney will be host to Conditioning classes as an optional extra for ITP and Invitee students enrolled in their corresponding Specialised Coaching Class (SCC).

            Students will be allocated into Conditioning class groups depending on their age and Level as well as in conjunction with their Classical class enrolment.Class allocations are not able to be altered unless exceptional circumstances prevail.

            Studentsmust be enrolled in the same venue SCC to be eligible for the SAC, i.e. must enrol in both Sydney SCC & Brisbane SAC. Please ensure you select the appropriate venue and Level option for your child.

            Each Conditioning class runs for approximately 40 minutes, at a cost of $55. Strictly limited places are available.

                  Personal Visits (PV) provide Invitee students with the opportunity to participate in select classes with 's Full-Time Program students.Invitee students are provided individualised schedules that include participation in select Full-Time classes (generally Level 4) and observation of a range of higher level classes.

                  Intensive Training Session (ITS) for ITP and Invitee students

                  Ensure you have read and understood the relevantinformation emailed to you before enrolling for an Intensive Training Session.

                  Intensive Training Sessions are specially designed to assist with each ITP and Invitee student’s potential and their possible development through to ’s Full-Time Program. These Intensive Training Sessions are not compulsory, but students are strongly encouraged to participate in their respective Intensive Training Session.

                  Marilyn Rowe House tours will beoffered for Level 3 and Invitee students during their respective ITS.

                  Due to the structure of the training, studentscan only attend the ITS held for their level/gender (i.e. a Level 2 Female cannot attend the Female Level 3 & Invitee ITS). Please ensure toselect the correct option when booking for your child.

                  If you require accommodation, werecommend our partner hotel Quest Southbank, whose flyer can be foundunder the 'Accommodations' tab in theITP Students & Parent/Carer Portal. Many other accommodation options are available in Southbank, Melbourne CBD and surrounds.


                  Class Allocation/Schedule
                  Sessions will take place in the morning and afternoon between the hours 8.30am - 6pm. Confirmed schedule/class details will be emailed approximately three weeks prior to each event. Class allocation can not be changed and due to the large number of participants, class/time requests can not be accommodated.

                  Cancellation Policy

                  Notification of withdrawal from an intensive Training Session must be received at least four days prior to the start date if a refund is being requested. All refund requests must be submitted in writing, accompanied by appropriate documentation such as a medical certificate. Any approved refunds will incur a 15% processing fee.

                    Our public Early Learning & Children’s Courses offer a wonderful opportunity for children of all genders, from kindergarten to primary school age, to embark on their first journey into the world of classical dance. These term-based programs introduce children to the joy and beauty of dance and music, fostering a lifelong love of movement.

                    Taught by highly trained instructors in the stunning studios of , each class is accompanied by live piano music, enhancing the experience and creating an inspiring atmosphere.

                    There are no auditions required to join this public program. Focused on nurturing creativity and enjoyment, the courses do not follow formal ballet grading, exams, or performances, making them a fun and supportive introduction to dance.

                    Please note, as outlined in the School's Terms and Conditions, “The School does not provide individual feedback outside of sessions/classes.”


                    Early Learning course enrolments are based on the child’s current age (3yrs+).

                    Children’s course enrolments are based on a child's current (2025) primary school year level.

                    Any incorrect enrolments may be transferred if a place is still available in the correct class. Incorrect enrolments may be refused and incur the 15% cancellation fee if a refund is approved.

                    Kinder participants must be toilet trained and must be at least 3 years old at the start of the term.

                    Please note that bookings will be for the term booked. As this is a public program, prior enrolment will not guarantee a place in future courses.

                    ABS staff members will escort the children into the School's studios. Parents/Carers are not permitted into the studio area.



                    There is no specific uniform, however the students should be dressed in appropriate dancewear.

                    Girls: leotard, ballet tights or white ankle socks, ballet shoes.

                    Boys: plain bike shorts, form-fitting plain t-shirt/singlet, white ankle socks and ballet shoes.



                    Children are required to wear ballet shoes which can be purchased at any specialised dancewear store.

                    Our preferred supplier is Bloch. The closest store to the school is located at 35 City Rd Southbank.



                    We do not offer any trial classes. It can take several weeks for a child to settle into a new environment and so we encourage children to attend for the full term course.



                    Bookings for classes are non-refundable unless they are cancelled by .

                    As our Early Learning and Children's courses consist of a set number of classes per term, no make-up classes are available.



                    As a per term course, our Early Learning & Children's Courses do not offer any annual/end of year performance experience.

                    On the final Saturday of Terms 2&4, a small presentation for parents is offered to share a small insight into the studio.
