In a recent interview with Soap Opera Digest, Bryton was questioned about why his character asked Abby to move in so soon after realizing that their relationship was developing into something more. He recognized that their love for one another has always existed, the actor remarked. Since every relationship should finish with your closest friend, I believe Devon and Abby realized that is exactly what had happened. It also makes sense on its own. Devon doesn’t see the purpose in waiting because their family is the most important thing to him, especially given his past. He also wants things to be stable for his son. He understands this because of the loss he’s experienced.
Bryton also acknowledged that Devon wants Abby’s relationship to result in something. Since they have always had bad luck falling in love, it only seems sense that they would be happier together than apart. It’s obviously a good step forward, he remarked. There isn’t, in my opinion, any room for “let’s see how this is going to go.” The only thing Devon is anticipating is that everything is pointing to this going incredibly well. There are undoubtedly more steps they may do jointly to strengthen their connection.
Nothing really can separate them anyway, Bryton continued. She killed his wife and unborn kid, after all; if they can move over that and remain friends, they can endure anything. They’ll always come to an agreement, in my opinion, as long as there is open communication and everyone is prepared to listen to each other out and take into account their feelings.
