Days of our Lives Recap Highlights
In addition, Lani finds herself in the most dire straits, John (Drake Hogestyn) and Steve (Stephen Nichols) get the truth handed to them on a silver platter, and Kate inadvertently gives Paulina the hope that she so desperately needs. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.

Days of our Lives Recap: Cries and Demonic Whispers
Having just gotten off the phone with Steve, Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) headed for Marlena’s (Deidre Hall) office to offer her buddy an update. Their husbands were in Los Angeles, busy tracking down that shady Jerry Prentiss (Terrell Ransom Jr.).

The convo was soon steered in Whitley King’s (Kim Coles) direction, and the name suddenly registered with Marlena. Could it be? Was it possible? Yes, she did indeed treat Whitley some years back. The fall of 2021 to be exact. A most inauspicious time considering that Marlena was possessed by the Devil itself.

A quick perusal of Whitley’s patient file (should Kayla have been privy to that info?) reminded Marlena that Whitley had come to see her in the aftermath of her husband’s untimely death from carbon monoxide poisoning.

As the leak had originated from a faulty space heater that she’d purchased and plugged into an outlet, Whitley blamed herself for her husband’s passing (not to mention the three kitty cats that perished alongside him) and was especially regretful that she didn’t get a chance to bid him a proper goodbye. Marlena shuttered to think what advice Old Scratch might have doled out during the therapy sessions.

DAYS Recap: Out Of The Frying Pan And Into The Fryer
At Whitley’s apartment, things were going from bad to worse. Despite finally breaking through Whitley’s delusions of being Paulina, Lani (Sal Stowers) was unable to convince her to do the right thing and free her and Abe (James Reynolds). Instead, the nutty nurse injected Lani with a mystery substance and dumped her prone body on the docks like the catch of the day.

Opposite this, Rafe (Galen Gering) and Jada (Elia Cantu) found themselves in the unenviable position of having to confess to U.S. Marshall Sam Gerald that they had no earthly idea where Lani was. After being talked out of issuing a statewide manhunt, Gerald tracked Lani’s ankle monitor which led the trio to the docks where they found Lani’s seemingly lifeless body.

DOOL Recap: Score One For The Good Guys
Meanwhile, in La-La-Land, John and Steve got their hands on Jerry — and boy did he have quite the story to tell. Once apprised of the situation, and having decided not to harm their witness, the intrepid heroes set about calling their friends and family back home with the update.

Days of our Lives Recap: Sounds Familiar
Kate (Lauren Koslow) swung by Paulina’s (Jackée Harry) apartment determined to bolster her friend’s spirits…but Paulina was inconsolable due to Lani’s MIA status. When Kate assured Paulina that she had faith Rafe would pull through, Paulina blanched. How can Kate say that with a straight face? After all, Rafe hasn’t found Philip, and he’s been missing far longer than Lani. (And that’s not to say that Paulina’s knocking Rafe the person. She loves Rafe.)

In response, Kate admitted that she actually knows exactly where Philip is, and that, in turn, necessitated her finding out how Philip had faked his death in order to frame Brady (Eric Martsolf) for murder. Despite herself, Paulina couldn’t help but draw parallels between Philip’s subterfuge and the story she was told about Abe.

His blood was found leading to a body of water, alongside his identifying hospital bracelet, and like Philip, his body was never found. Is it possible, conceivable even, that Abe’s death was a frame job as well?
