Do Melissa Claire Egan’s chances of winning a daytime Emmy look promising?

In a recent interview with Michael Fairman TV, Melissa talked candidly about the material she included in her Emmy reel and the reasons behind her decision to include Chelsea’s near-suicide scenario. In her own words, Melissa stated, “I put in two episodes’ worth of everything that happened: on the ledge, and the aftermath, the subsequent episode. It occurred during a scene in which Chelsea and Billy (Jason Thompson) were in a hotel room and she was still going through the stages and upset with him for stopping her. You had no right to stop me on that ledge, she says. I made that decision. You had no standing. You are not allowed to direct how I live my life. I appreciate how those scenes sort of demonstrated the various layers of it. In order to prepare for the scenes concerning what occurs next, I spoke with Dr. Dan Reidenberg a lot. He is the managing director of the National Council for Suicide Prevention. i.e., “If you get stuck, you’re in shock, followed by anger.” You had emotionally prepared to pass away and accept that, as well as what would happen next if it didn’t. Since I also really enjoyed that episode, I included it as well.

As for the overwhelming fan response, Melissa said, “Oh, my god. It was really meaningful. It was beyond description. Fans are usually encouraging, but I was astonished by the response I received from people who were simply sharing photos on Twitter and Instagram and DMing me to say, “This was me,” or “This was my daughter, this was my aunt, this was my mom, this is my son.” My cousin was this. Some folks spoke about how their relative experienced this two weeks ago, for example. I simply couldn’t believe how well it was received.
